If you’ve been here before you might’ve noticed that I like personalised gifts. I’ve written a few reviews which you can read here. When the opportunity came up to review a personalised notebook from Old English Co. I jumped at the chance! I am a bit of a self-confessed notebook addict. I’ve lost count how many notebooks I have, some used and some unsued. I was excited to choose a notebook and eagerly waited the delivery and the chance to get to use a new notebook.

Old English Co.
The Old English Co is a UK based stationery and gift retailer. Their aim is to provide customers with beautifully illustrated and hand-lettered products, ranging from notebooks, enamel pins, keyrings and much more. There is something for everyone and every occasion.
It took me some time to decide which personalised notebook I wanted to get, as there are multiple designs to choose from. Each design features a handwritten quote that is embossed with gold foil. There are 4 colour options for each notebook. The colours are, black, grey, white and blush pink. Depending on which design you choose you can personalise the notebook with a name, a message as well as a date.
My Personalised Notebook
The personalised notebook I ended up choosing has the quote ‘And So The Story Begins’. This quote stood out to me the most. As a writer I’m always looking to find a story to tell and where better to start than in a fresh new notebook.
Originally I had hoped to get the notebook with a black cover, however at the time of ordering and writng this post, the black covers are out of stock. So I ended up picking the grey cover. And to be honest I am really pleased with the grey cover.
The A5 notebook has a matte finish soft cover with the chosen quote in gold foil. Although made from what appears to be heavy weight card stock the cover seems durable. I haven’t tried to see if it will rip, (it’s too pretty to do that). I’ve had the notebook for a few weeks & it seems to be holding up well to daily wear and tear.
The ivory coloured lined pages of the book feels thick, luxurious and smooth to write on. I’m a little heavy handed when I write, which can lead to ghosting of what I had written on other pages. This does happen with my personalised notebook, however that is not a fault with the book.
Great As A Gift Idea
With the holiday season only a few months away. Old English Co. personalised notebooks is a great gift idea for anyone in your life who loves notebooks. The notebooks are reasonably priced from the personalised notebooks being priced at £12.99 and non personalised ones from £5.95.
To give a truly honest review I have to mentioned the few things about the notebook that I don’t like. The book doesn’t lay completely flat, which I know to some people is important. However over time and some training the book may lay flat. The first page of the book is attached to the cover rather than the paper block which I know some people dislike. I don’t mind it. I normally tend to use the first page as a “this books belongs to” page.
Would these prevent me from using my personalised notebook? Absolutely not! It is very likely that I will purchase another book from Old English Co. in the future.
