Alba our black labrador, border collie mix has been part of our family for 5 years. From the moment we brought her home as a puppy, we knew that the food we choose to give her is an important part of being a dog household. We wanted to make sure that the food she was eating would benefit her. She’s been on the same brand of food for a few years now. Which she likes, but must be bored of it by now, that is why I jumped at the chance to try out Hill’s.
Hill’s Science Plan
Hill’s is a brand that produces high quality pet food with the aim to lengthen and enrich relationships between people and their pets.
The particular type of food we were sent to review is Adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin Medium with chicken. Which is a dried dog food that is aimed at supporting healthy digestion, skin and coat.
This easy to digest dry food provides your dog with the exact balance of nutrients it needs for a balanced digestive system and can help improve skin and coat health. It is rich in clinically proven antioxidants, as well as minerals and vitamins E and C to help support overall wellbeing. The high omega-3 and -6 fatty acid content in this Hill’s Science Plan Adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin Medium supports your dog’s fur health, ensuring skin is nourished and supplementing natural oils. The special mix of fibres in this food also helps support digestive health providing relief for a sensitive digestive tract. The outstanding flavour of the dish ensures it is well accepted, and no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours are used in the creation of Hill’s Science Plan Canine Sensitive Stomach & Skin. A healthy food for a healthy dog!
We received a 3kg bag of the food which comes in a resealable package. On the packaging, there are feeding instructions which are great, if like me you might be concerned about under or overfeeding. Hill’s takes the worrying or calculating out of the equation for you, making life that little bit easier There is also a clear list of ingredients so you know exactly what your dog is eating.
Transitioning To Hill’s Science Plan
Anyone who has pets know that changing their food isn’t a straight forward swap it out, its best to transition the new food into their diet gradually to ensure that it doesn’t cause any stomach issues. Which is exactly what we did when testing out new food. At first, we added a small amount into her bowl with her normal food, then over a few days increasing the amount of Hill’s and decreasing her normal food, until she was fully on Hill’s Science Plan food.
One thing I noticed straight away was her eagerness to eat her food. Normally she is a grazer. She’d be fed in the morning before we leave to take our son to nursery. She’d pick at it all day. Now with Hill’s Science Plan Adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin Medium with Chicken, she’s eating it all as soon as we put the bowl down.
