Autumn Skincare Routine – Blogtober 2018 – Day 22

Hello and welcome to day 22 of blogtober.  Todays prompt is autumn skincare routine.  At almost 40 I am ashamed to admit that I am a little slack at looking after my skin. I always have great intentions of taking time each day to cleanse tone and moisturise.  However living with chronic pain and fatigue means that there are times when I am too exhausted to even use a baby wipe on my face.

I’m hoping that if I share my skincare routine I will be held accountable and will make the effort each day to care for my skin.  The products I have chosen to use are ones that I already had at home.

Cleansing

The cleanser I am currently using is Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser.  The cleanser can be used both morning and night,  It is so easy to use that it can be done from my bed if I am unable to get to the bathroom.  I work a few pumps of the cleanser on to my face and neck.  Then polish it away with a hot cotton cloth.  Using the cloth gentle exfoliates the skin leaving it feeling soft and looking brighter.

Exfoliating

The hot cloth cleansing does gently exfoliate the skin, however I do have a Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator.  It is recommended that you use this 2 to 3 times a week.  As the name suggests the exfoliator is gentle with cocoa butter, eucalyptus and jojoba beads.  Compared to other exfoliators this doesn’t feel as harsh on my skin.  I have combination skin which can get a little dehydrated from time to time and this doesn’t feel too rough or scratchy on my face.

I recently purchased Pixi Glow Peel Pads. I’ve only used them a few times. Because of the glycolic acid my face starts to feel a little tingly. Any residue product should be cleaned off with cold water after 2 to 3 minutes. The packaging claims that with regular use skin will become brighter and radiant.

Toner

Along with the Cleanse & Polish cleanser and exfoliator I also have the Instant Boost Skin Tonic.  One of the ingredients of the tonic is aloe vera, which is soothing and cooling on the skin.  Again this can be done whilst sitting in bed as I use cotton pads to apply the tonic over my face and neck

Masks

Once or maybe twice I week I will do a mask of some sort.  Sheet masks are great for those low energy days.  One of my favourites is the Soap & Glory Party Recovery Radiance Boosting Mask.   I can lay on my bed or the sofa and apply the mask according to the instructions wait about 20 minutes, remove the mask and work the residual product into my skin.

As well as sheet masks I do like to use an eye mask from time to time.  I like to use the Soap  & Glory Puffy Eye Attack.  Due to my fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue I always seem to have bags under my eyes. Thanks to the poor sleep that comes with these conditions.  Does the mask make my under eyes look brighter, I wouldn’t say so but they are soothing and cooling which feels amazing.

Serums

Along with the Pixi Glow Peel Pads I bought Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum. When buying this I was seduced by the packaging. Who doesn’t like the look of nice bottles on your shelf. The serums consistency is lightweight leaving my skin feeling more hydrated. The serum can be used daily, morning and night after cleansing and toning, before using my daily moisturiser.

Moisturisers

The moisturiser I have is the Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser. The moisturiser is rich and leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft. I’m not a massive fan of how it smells, it does the job though.

I’m on the search for a night cream and eye cream. If anyone has some recommendations let me know in the comments.
