Hello and welcome to day 18 of Blogtober. Today I will be talking about what I am thankful for. Before I start I want to express how important it is for people to express their gratitude and thanks for the things we have, the people who are part of our lives and for the challenges that have made us who we are.
2018 has been a tough year for the Ogston household. So many things have gone wrong, opportunities lost and stress has ensued. I could bore you all telling you the woeful stories of what has happened to us. That however is not the point of this post. The point is to share what I am thankful for.
Love & Support
My wonderful and supportive husband has been there for me through the tough times. He’s made me laugh we I don’t feel like laughing. He’s wiped my tears and held me when I felt like I had no fight left in me.
I’m thankful for my parents who put me up for a few weeks when some of the neighbour drama was going on. And for all the times they have Alex sleep over. The relationship between them is so heartwarming and wonderful to see.
Although I don’t get to see my friends as much as I’d like. The fact that I know they are there makes me thankful for the years of friendship. The countless memories of drunken nights out. The late night phone calls and girlie holidays.
I’m also thankful for the online friends I’ve made over the past year. The internet can be a weird and strange place, but it can also be a place full of wonderful & supportive people.
In the last year I’ve been given a few opportunities for writing and have contributed to several sites such as 5Whys, The Unchargeables and Dadsnet. I hope to continue writing for others.
Having an outlet
Finally I’m thankful for having an outlet for getting everything off my mind if and when I need it. Not everyone has an outlet for whatever they are going through, they keep it bottled up inside from fear of being judged, belittled or teased which can affect them even more.
What are you thankful for? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
