My Life with Chronic Pain and Invisible Illnesses – Guest Post

Today I am bringing you the first ever guest post to feature on nicolajogston.com. The post is by Pamela a fellow spoonie and chronic illness fighter. I pass you over to her and she can tell you all about her life with chronic pain and invisible illness. My name is Pamela Jessen and I live with Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and several other Invisible Illnesses. It’s an awful thing to live with constant pain, as well as having to try to describe it to people who just don’t “get it”. Having invisible illnesses is even worse, because there is nothing obvious that jumps out and says you’re in pain – no physical deformity, no cast, no stitches. Pamela My […]

How A Bad Doctors Appointment Can Put You Off

Finding a doctor who is understanding about your chronic condition can be a struggle.  The number of GP’s I’ve seen or stories I’ve heard from others about doctors not listening or helping is shocking!  I wrote previously about My Chronic Illness and GP’s  Where I spoke about the lack of support I was receiving by my doctor.  Shortly after writing that piece I moved practice and found a doctor who I felt got my condition and was helpful.  That is until one day, they don’t seem to be as understanding as you first thought.  They make you feel like you’re wasting their time.   You question whether you will go to see another doctor again.  My Latest Doctor Appointment Recently […]

Debenhams Do Plus Size!!

As someone who is plus size I know all to well how hard it has been to find clothes that are stylish and don’t make me look frumpy. In the last few years it feels like the plus size fashion industry has come a long way.  No longer are plus size babes limited to two or maybe three places where we can buy clothes. The clothes that are on offer to us now are more stylish and on trend. We still aren’t fully covered when it comes to sizing and ease of access on the High Street, but we are heading in the right direction.   One store that I was surprised to learn had a plus size range, is […]

The Changing Seasons – A Chronic Illness Survival Guide

The weather this summer has been glorious but it has been far too hot for some people, myself included.  Thankfully we are coming to the end of season.   I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned this year to help cope the heat and chronic illness.  As well as sharing tips on dealing with the upcoming changes in seasons. What This Summer Taught Me Hot weather and fibromyalgia don’t make the best of friends.  They get on fine but don’t expect them to be talking after a few months of intense heat. The heat can cause symptoms to flare  During the heatwave that gripped the UK in July I learned a lot about how to cope with […]

Sometimes We Need To Be Challenged.

As a SAHM with chronic illness and disabilities I tend to do the same thing day in, day out. I feel like I’m drowning in the mundane and need to find new ways to challenge myself and stop my brain turning to mush. I’m a bit of a list addict and found a pin on Pinterest 31 Days Of lists challenge.  For the rest of July I am going to take part in this list challenge and will post them on my site, as well as write them in my bullet journal. I’m not necessarily going to share one list per day. I’ll more than likely do a post a week with several lists in one, so anyone who is […]
