Hello, long time no see. If you aren’t aware of what’s been going on, I have had to take an unplanned break from writing. I had the greatest of intentions of amping up my posting and content this past month but sadly life got in the way in the most stressful and disruptive way you can possibly imagine.
What’s been happening?
Put it simply shitty landlords, leaks, literally gallons of water coming through our bathroom ceiling in the space of 3 weeks. Promises of repair, broken promises. Getting the council and councillors involved the threat of legal action to said shitty landlord of the private let. Temporarily living with my parents whilst David stayed in the damp stinky flat and a lot of illness.
There have been a few times in the last month where my resolve almost faltered, I wanted to give up and crawl into bed and never get out again. I honestly felt that we were being tested by a higher power to see how far or how much we could take before breaking. I can tell you that my breaking point closer than I would like.
It appears that the leak has finally been fixed, although we have been told that it is only a temporary fix and that the landlord has to replace all the pipes. We currently have an industrial dehumidifier in the bathroom trying to dry the room out before the work that needs done can be started.
Once the bathroom has dried out we are in the waiting game to see how long it takes to get repaired. A survey was carried out to find out the full extent of work needed due to the water damage. Thankfully it’s not as bad as we first thought.
The bathroom will need to be completely ripped back to brick, re-plastered and the ceiling will need replacing. The adjoining hall wall is also needing re-plastered, originally we thought the adjoining kitchen wall we need to be done too but the surveyor said that doesn’t need to happen.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the work to begin, we are still in limbo though as we are not sure if we will he put into temporary accommodation during the completion of work.
I’d never thought that I’d crave normality but with everything and everyone all out of sorts I want back into my own wee home and get back into our daily routine.
