Hello and welcome to day 27 of Blogtober.  Todays post is a guest post from the amazing Ali of Notebooks and Glasses.  Ali is sharing what she carries to help manage her chronic pain.   * * * I’m delighted to be featuring as a guest blogger for nicolajogston.com. Nicola and I met through our blogs and we both suffer from chronic pain. I write about my life with chronic pain at Notebooks and Glasses. Although I have reluctantly had to give up on my Blogtober challenge this year, I still wanted to write and submit my post for Nicola’s blog. Thank you for having me – and congratulations on your own Blogtober challenge. I am really enjoying reading your […]

Childhood Halloween Story – Blogtober 2018 – Day 26

When I was a kid Halloween wasn’t that big of a deal. We wouldn’t go trick or treating, there wasn’t a lot of choice for costumes and decorations that there is today. I remember vaguely of dressing up as a cat and possibly a clown at one point to go to a disco or something. The only Halloween story I can remember from my childhood does involve a fright and some blood though. I’m not sure how old I was, maybe about 7 or 8. It was Halloween night, it was dark (I’m not a big fan of the dark). I was at my nana and papas who lived a few doors down from my me and my mum. At […]

Ultimate Autumn Getaway – Blogtober 2018 – Day 24

Over the course of Blogtober you have noticed that I really do love autumn. Although I’ve only ever experienced it in Scotland, going to another country in the autumn is something I would like to do. Today for Blogtober I am going to be discussing my ultimate autumn getaway. New York, New York New York has been on my travel bucket list for a long time.  I’ve dreamt about seeing the lights of Time Square.  Looking over the cities skyline from the Empire State Building.  Taking pictures on the steps of The Met (thank for the idea gossip girl).  I want to pay respect to those who lost their lives on 9/11 and I want to soak in the atmosphere […]

The Scariest Thing I’ve Seen – Blogtober 2018 – Day 23

With halloween just around the corner what better way to celebrate it than talking about the scariest thing I’ve seen. In my almost 40 years on this planet I have seen some scary stuff, witness car accidents, visited haunted venues or watched a scary movie. However when I look back and recall a memory. There is one that stands out more than anything else!! I can’t recall my exact age at the time, I think I was about 6 or 7. It was one of the weekends I was staying at my fathers house. At some point during the course of my stay I watched a scary movie that he has rented from the video shop. That scary movie is […]

Autumn Skincare Routine – Blogtober 2018 – Day 22

Hello and welcome to day 22 of blogtober.  Todays prompt is autumn skincare routine.  At almost 40 I am ashamed to admit that I am a little slack at looking after my skin. I always have great intentions of taking time each day to cleanse tone and moisturise.  However living with chronic pain and fatigue means that there are times when I am too exhausted to even use a baby wipe on my face.   I’m hoping that if I share my skincare routine I will be held accountable and will make the effort each day to care for my skin.  The products I have chosen to use are ones that I already had at home. Cleansing  The cleanser I […]

Biggest Fear – Blogtober 2018 – Day 21

Hello and welcome to day 21 of blogtober.  With Halloween being the season of scares and fear, todays prompt is to talk about my biggest fear. As fears go I have some of the ordinary everyday kind. Not liking heights, spiders, public speaking and jellyfish. Yes I’m afraid of jellyfish! That however is not my biggest fear. My biggest fear is of my symptoms of my illness becoming more severe. To the point where I may require help with everything aspect of my daily life and care. Fibromyalgia is not considered a progressive or degenerative condition according to the consultant who diagnosed me. Over the course of my illness and the varying flares I’ve had in that time. I personally […]

Halloween Themed Craft Ideas – Blogtober 2018 – Day 20

Crafting is one of the suggestions I used for my rainy day activities post. Today I am sharing some of the crafts that alex and I have been doing this month. With Halloween just around the corner. I felt that doing some Halloween inspired crafts would be perfect.  On a day where nothing was planned. I got out our crafting supplies and got to work with Alex to make the pumpkin paper plates and the bat silhouette picture that is found. It didn’t go according to plan but both Alex and I loved it. We will definitely be doing more crafting more often from now on. Tell me in the comments one of your favourite crafting memories with your children […]

Autumn Styling For Chronic Illness – Blogtober 2018 – Day 19

Hello and welcome to day 19 of Blogtober. Today I’m going to share some tips I’ve found helpful when putting together outfits that are functional tional and comfortable for my life as a fibromyalgia warrior or spoonie. Many spoonies can be sensitive to heat. Many illnesses may affect the bodies ability to regulate heat which means we can be freezing cold one minute and burning up next. It can happen so suddenly and without warning that we feel we need to take off our clothes or put on the thickest jumper lined with hot water bottles. Not knowing how our bodies are going to react to an environment means that we need to be prepared for all instances. Layering Is […]

Thankful Thursday – Blogtober 2018 – Day 18

Hello and welcome to day 18 of Blogtober. Today I will be talking about what I am thankful for. Before I start I want to express how important it is for people to express their gratitude and thanks for the things we have, the people who are part of our lives and for the challenges that have made us who we are. 2018 has been a tough year for the Ogston household. So many things have gone wrong, opportunities lost and stress has ensued. I could bore you all telling you the woeful stories of what has happened to us. That however is not the point of this post. The point is to share what I am thankful for. Love […]

Wardrobe Wishlist – Blogtober 2018 – Day 17

Hello and welcome to day 17 of blogtober.  The finish line is in sight.  Today’s prompt is wardrobe wishlist.  If you are anything like me you’ll have clothes in the basket of multiple shops, waiting till you divide to buy them or debating whether you can afford them or whether they will suit you.  Here is what I’ve currently got on my wardrobe wishlist.  Simply Be This tartan dress by Violeta for Mango looks gorgeous.  Check/tartan design that I love and never seems to go out of style.  It would look great with thick tights and and chunky boots.  The contrasting removable belt makes that little bit more edgier.   Tartan Dress – £59.99 Cord seems to be a love […]
